Passionately pursuing excellence

Color Guard

Color Guard is widely known as the “sport of the arts” and is intended to visually express mind, body, soul and music. Performers do this through dance and equipment (flag, rifle and sabre). With color guard, the goal is to further develop and tell a story alongside the marching band.

Membership

The ENHS Color Guard is open to any student at Edmond North. Some students play an instrument during the concert band season, while others are from the general student body. Basic dance experience is ideal, but not required. Color Guard members enroll for 1st Hour Band in the fall semester only.

Rehearsal Schedule

The length of the color guard season coincides with the marching band (August-October). Rehearsal dates and times are subject to change. For the most up-to-date schedule, see the ENHS Band Calendar. The regular rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Monday-Friday, 7:00-9:00am - Full Band

Tuesday, 5:00-8:00pm - Full Band

Thursday, 5:00-8:00pm - Color Guard Sectional

While being very similar to Color Guard, Winter Guard is a performance sport, simply indoors. During the “winter season,” guards perform in a gym on a tarp - an artistic floor approximately the size of a basketball court, designed to compliment the show theme - accompanied by an audio track. Much like Color Guard, the fall version of Winter Guard, performers utilize dance and equipment to tell a story.

Membership

The ENHS Winter Guard is open to any student at Edmond North. Some students play an instrument during the concert band season, while others are from the general student body. Basic dance experience is ideal, but not required. Winter Guard is an extracurricular activity, so members do not enroll for 1st Hour Band during the spring semester, unless they also play an instrument in a concert band.

Rehearsal Schedule

Winter Guard rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:30pm during the concert band season (December-April). Extra rehearsals may be called as necessary.
